About Chef Katie

Katie discovered the joy of cooking as a little girl when her dad would make his famous doughnuts and homemade soups. As she grew up, Katie noticed how her mom loved to entertain and try new recipes. Any chance Katie got, she was helping in the kitchen.
When it came time to decide what to do after high school, it was simple. Katie decided to enroll in college and get her culinary arts degree. There, Katie honed her cooking skills every day. Katie’s resume expanded to several restaurants in Southeastern Wisconsin and Mequon Country Club. At the Country Club, Katie was able to see all the different avenues of the kitchen. Her positions extended to line cook, banquet cook, prep cook, and her favorite: pastry chef.
After several years in the cooking industry, Katie wanted to try a “9 to 5” office job. For 5 years she spent Monday through Friday working at a desk. She soon realized that she missed cooking for others on a daily basis, but didn’t want to go back to the long hours, weekends and holidays required at the Country Club. For a couple of years she often thought about how she could return to the cooking industry. Her family and friends were always raving about her food and saying she needed to use her culinary degree. It wasn’t until the spring of 2006 that her younger sister suggested becoming a personal chef. Katie’s immediate thought was that there was no way that a personal chef would survive in Wisconsin. This is an industry where clients are celebrities. After much thought and research, she found out that there was a need for a personal chef. Busy, families, singles, couples, new parents, people who hate to cook or don’t have the time to cook, all these people and then some needed and wanted her services. Katie became a member of American Personal and Private Chef Association in the summer of 2006. She is also certified through ServSafe as a Food Manager.
What Katie loves the most about cooking is taking an ingredient and making it into a spectacular recipe and then using the same ingredient for something completely different. Katie also loves the whole process of cooking: from the first slice of a vegetable to the last sizzle in the sauté pan. Because Katie loves every aspect of cooking, she can guarantee you’ll love every bite you take.
Katie had two main reasons to start her own personal chef business. First, to help others get home-cooked meals on the dinner table as fast as possible, without having to order greasy fast food or carry-out. The second reason to start my personal chef business was for families to be able to sit around the dinner table to reconnect and enjoy each others laughter.
With Custom Meals, it’s quick and easy to have dinner ready on the table. The only ingredient Katie requires is, “Just Add Family and Friends!”
